The 2nd Amendment states that any American citizen is allowed to keep a handgun at any time.
Case:
Parker vs. District of Columbia
The District of Columbia defends its handgun law, requiring that any guns owned to be kept at home, locked or unloaded.
Being unconstitutional, Parker’s case was filed in 2003, February 5th.
In November 2nd, 2005, the Appeals Court denied to remand and asked for further briefing on the merits of
the case. The merits were presented, and in August 2006 were seen. March 9th, 2007, and the Handgun law
was overruled by the 2nd Amendment.
May 8th, 2007, and the Gun law remained in effect, and was not litigated.
Real World Connections:
The second amendment allows any citizen to bear a handgun,
loaded and unlocked, correct? Well, how would you feel if you
didn't have that right? You might feel more insecure, less protected
if you get attacked by something/someone.
You may get prosocuted for using a gun without reason
(Self-defence) though.
Analysis:
Guns? Why would we need guns? Well, the Second Amendment
allows guns to be kept and held loaded. The reason for this was
self-defence. People might feel less secure without them,
especially when endangered of an attacker.
